Arkansas Guardsmen Deploy to Kosovo to Support Peace Keeping Mission
Soldiers from Headquarters Company, 39th infantry brigade combat team, Arkansas National Guard, held their deployment send off ceremony at the Robinson Maneuver Training Center in north Little Rock, Ark., on June 22. These soldiers will be aiding for efforts of the Kosovo forces (k-for), joint guardian, by sending units to Kosovo and Bosnia in order to provide command and control responsibilities for the higher headquarters element and by providing security to the citizens of the area to ensure freedom of movement for all. The k-for mission has been ongoing since 1999. The soldiers of the 39th are scheduled to deploy for approximately one year. (U.S. Army National Guard video by Spc. Stephen Wright)

Soldiers from Headquarters Company (HHC), 39th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Arkansas National Guard, departed from North Little Rock for a 9 month mobilization to Kosovo. These Arkansas Guardsmen will function as the Headquarters element for NATO's Multinational Battle-Group East. Their mission is a continuance of NATO's mission to support a safe and secure environment for the people of Kosovo, as well as supporting freedom of movement for all.

Approximately 700 Soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 153rd Infantry Regiment, 39th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Arkansas National Guard, left the state of Arkansas on Sunday, January 1st, to deploy to the Horn of Africa. The Guardsmen will support operations, exercises, and security cooperation programs under U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM). The battalion is headquartered in Malvern, Arkansas, and is comprised of companies of Soldiers from across South Arkansas.

Soldiers of the 119th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment left their home state of Arkansas on Sunday, after having a send-off ceremony at Fisher Armory, in North Little Rock, Arkansas, with their final destination being Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The public affairs unit, which is comprised primarily of photo and broadcast journalists, will first stop at Fort Hood, Texas, where they will receive additional training and information pertinent to their assigned duties in Cuba. The 119th will support operations of Joint Task Force Guantanamo by providing media relations support and various other public relations tasks. Aside from individual Soldier or team mobilizations, this will be the first main body deployment that the unit has been sent on since the unit received its own designation as the 119th MPAD.
