WHAT: Fort Chaffee Joint Maneuver Training Center change of command ceremony
WHEN: at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 5, 2021. Interested media should contact Staff Sgt. Melody Daniel via phone at (479) 857-0886 by 6 p.m. today to coordinate access to Fort Chaffee.
WHERE: Post Headquarters, Fort Chafee Joint Maneuver Training Center, Ark.
WHY: Maj. Gen. Kendall Penn, Arkansas’ adjutant general, appointed Col. Nicholas P. Jaskolski to succeed Col. Dwight D. Ikenberry as the garrison commander of Fort Chaffee Joint Maneuver Training Center. Jaskolski will ceremonially assume his role in a time-honored tradition when Ikenberry relinquishes the garrison’s military colors to Vines, who then passes the colors to Jaskolski, a tradition that ensures an officer is in charge at all times.
Ikenberry took command Aug. 14, 2019. He retires from the Arkansas National Guard in a separate ceremony later in the afternoon.
Fort Chaffee Joint Maneuver Training Center is the state’s largest military installation covering 65,000 acres in the Arkansas River Valley. Military units from around the country complete routine training at the installation, to include maneuver training, live-fire exercises, river crossing operations, urban combat training, command post exercises, and battlefield simulations.
In addition to Department of Defense military units using the installation, other customers include the Department of Energy, federal, state, and local law enforcement trainees.
