WHO: Brigadier General Kevin L. Vines, Director of the Joint Staff for the Arkansas National Guard officiates
WHAT: Fort Chaffee Change of Command ceremony
WHEN: Saturday, Aug. 14, 2019, 10 a.m.; interested media should contact the Camp Robinson Public Affairs office by 3 p.m. Aug. 13.
WHERE: Building 1370 (Post Headquarters) on Fort Chaffee, Arkansas; reception to follow in Building 1384
WHY: Maj. Gen. Kendall Penn, The Adjutant General of the Arkansas National Guard, appointed Lt. Col. Dwight D. Ikenberry to succeed Col. Mark E, McGuire as the commander of Fort Chaffee. Ikenberry will ceremonially assume his role in a time-honored tradition when Brig. Gen. Vines accepts the military colors from McGuire and passes them to Ikenberry. Immediately following the change of command, a reception will be held to honor the current and former commander of the state’s largest military installation.
The Arkansas National Guard has over 10,000 Soldiers and Airmen in uniform ready to support state missions or federal mission when called upon. Through our training, and the continued support of our communities, the Arkansas National Guard and our collocated sister service organizations, can continue to make positive contributions to the safety and security of our state and nation.
