Arkansas National Guard hosts Media Day, Sept. 20
~ Focused to familiarize news media with National Guard missions
WHO: The Arkansas Army National Guard
WHAT: Will host a Media Day to familiarize news media with Arkansas Army and Air National Guard missions. Media Day is an all-day event, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
WHEN: Media interested in attending the Sept. 20 Media Day must RSVP by Sept 13.
WHERE: Media will assemble in the Little Rock Air Force Base University Center parking lot at 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 20.
WHY: News media will have an opportunity to learn about the varied missions the Arkansas Army and Air National Guard conduct, interact with its senior leaders and form a better understanding of how the Arkansas National Guard fits into state missions and federal missions. The day starts at Little Rock Air Force Base in Jacksonville with a briefing about the Arkansas Air National Guard’s 189th Airlift Wing’s airlift and cyberspace missions and the Fort Smith-based188th Wing’s MQ-9 Reaper and space targeting missions, followed by a cargo build-up demo to prepare cargo for airdrop and a static C-130H tour. Lunch is at Hangar 1080 on base. Cost is $12 per person. After lunch, media will drive to Camp Robinson in North Little Rock and reassemble for a briefing on Arkansas Army National Guard missions and receive a tour of static helicopters, observe a helicopter firefighting demo, and participate in a hands-on firearm training simulator.
